We treat screenshot instructions as version-sensitive technical documentation, not as generic evergreen advice.

Primary-source verification

For Windows, macOS, iOS/iPadOS, Android, Pixel and ChromeOS, we prioritize current Microsoft, Apple and Google support documentation. Manufacturer-specific pages use official manufacturer support or manuals where available.

Version awareness

We record when a feature depends on a Windows build, Android version, macOS release, device generation or manufacturer skin. A method is not presented as universal when it is model-dependent.

Button and keyboard checks

We verify not only the software shortcut but also whether a laptop family can place Print Screen behind Fn or use a different legend. When hardware varies too much, the guide points users to the exact model manual.

Save-location checks

Each guide distinguishes between captures that create files and captures that only go to the clipboard. Cloud-backed known folders such as OneDrive Pictures are treated separately from a fixed local path.

Visual review

Instruction images are checked for readability, platform relevance and whether the highlighted control matches the written step. Decorative images are avoided when they do not teach anything.

Correction policy

When official documentation changes, the guide should be updated rather than preserving outdated behavior. If an older method is included for legacy devices, it is labelled as such.
