How To Take Screenshot with Windows Snipping Tool?

The first choice for taking a screenshot in Windows 10 is `Windows Snipping Tool`. It is provided by Microsoft as a built-in tool with Windows 10. So we do not need to install any extra software.

We can open `Snipping Tool` from the Start Menu by writing the name of the tool where `snip` is enough to list it like below. Then just click to the `Snipping Tool`app like below.

Create New Screenshot

We will see the following screen where we will click to the `New` in order to create a new screenshot. there is also different configuration about the `Mode`, `Delay` and detailed `Options.

Specify The Area

After clicking  `New` we will see that the screen will be grayed which means screenshot mode is enabled but we should select the area we want to take screenshot.

After selecting the area the screenshot will be taken. The created screenshot will be displayed in the main window of the `Snipping Tool`. We can also see that some tools like text, coloring, pen etc. is shown in the menu bar which can be used to edit taken screenshot.

Save Into A File

We can save taken or edited screenshot into a file. We will just click to the `Save` button which icon is a diskette-like below.

This will open a `Save As` dialogue where we can specify the path and picture format we want to save. Then we can click to `Save`.

Paste Into A Word Document

Alternatively, we can paste the taken screenshot into a Word file or similar application without saving into a file. By default, the taken screenshot will be stored in the clipboard in order to paste but we can explicitly copy to clipboard with the follow button.
